Electronic cigarettes also referred to as e-cigarettes, mimic traditional cigarettes, which are made up of tobacco. However, these cigarettes are actually technological devices that are made up of a cartridge, an atomizer, and a battery.

It is estimated that about a million people have now transitioned to smoking e-cigarettes. While an electronic cigarette does indeed create the look of holding a cigarette, as well as simulate the sensations of dragging on smoke, it is not really a cigarette.

Electronic Cigarettes Re-enact Smoking Rituals

What gives smokers the greatest pleasure is all the rituals associated with smoking. Just like a tobacco cigarette, an e-cigarette allows the smoker to enjoy the rituals associated with regular cigarettes. The e-cigarette has a stem built out of nanobeads that is a soft filter like a regular cigarette. However an electronic cigarette does not need to be lit up, does not heat up, and does not emit smoke. Unlike tobacco cigarettes, an electronic cigarette cannot create burns or start fires.

Electronic Cigarettes Are Smokeless

An e-cigarette is actually a simple piece of technology that re-enacts many of the rituals associated with smoking. For instance, since the most important part of smoking is the smoke, e-cigarettes create a simulated smoke. This illusion of smoke adds to the satisfaction of smoking. The water vapor delivers nicotine and creates a sensation of inhaling smoke.

The illusory smoke is vapor made up of nicotine, water, glycerin, and propylene glycol. Acting like tobacco smoke, the vapor can be inhaled and exhaled just like tobacco smoking. When exhaling, the water vapor looks like a plume of smoke.

What Makes Electronic Cigarettes Different

Electronic cigarettes should not be confused with traditional cigarettes. They are not a variation of tobacco cigarettes but a complete deviation from them. Electronic cigarettes provide many benefits not associated with traditional cigarettes.

• They have no tar, toxins, and carcinogenic compounds.

• The cost less than traditional cigarettes. A pack of cigarettes costs about $6, but the same quantity of smoking pleasure from an electronic cigarette costs $4 less.

• They emit no smoke. Smoke adversely affects smokers and those inhaling secondary smoke.

• They don’t create a foul smell that clings to hair and clothes.

• They are known in some cases to lower health care insurance rates depending on the health coverage carrier.

• They do away with the many of the dangers associated with lit cigarettes. Traditional cigarettes have been known to accidentally cause skin and cloth burns and start residential and forest fires.

Mike Hollis blogs about the technology of electronic cigarettes and informs smokers about a better way to enjoy a puff. This article is not designed to encourage smoking or in any way make health claims about electronic cigarettes.
